This fabulous 19th century inkwell features a rare combination of bronze and carved wood portions, finely crafted to depict a bulldog in repose. Its antiquity and craftsmanship make it a valuable collectible.
Very unusual & rare, made from bronze with carved wood.
A feature that stands out are the cute glass eyes.
He is in an upright sitting position.
A nice small size being 15 cm high and 8.5 cm wide.
Exceptionally well cast the detail is, you can see the wrinkles on his cheeks and around his nose, muscular detail to his front legs.
The head lifts to reveal bronze lined interior for the ink to sit in.
Circa late 19th century Victorian era.
Indistinct makers mark underneath.
Having beautiful intricate hand carved detail to the feathers & face which really stands out stunning piece.
