- Subject side profile view magnificent maritime perspective shoreline seascape view of the known British passenger cargo liner ship.
- Title "The Bibby Liner The "Gloucestershire" leaving Liverpool by John Cromby" In the foreground your focus is first drawn to the Sloop yacht sailing along in front on choppy wates of the River Mersey, to your right a small tug boat steaming along, further back the impressive view of the Gloucestershire in side profile with its single funnel with black smoke coming out. The ship has 4 tall masts, with red ensign flags flying high at the aft section. The name of the ship is shown on the bow, further back are the iconic Royal Liver building and close by the Liverpool parish church, Our Lady and Saint Nicolas. The Pier head and The Three Graces buildings, Cunard building and the port of Liverpool buildings , you can see the green domed top further back along on the right side. There are also some birds flying cross the water. Above with mainly dark gloomy overcast cloudy sky which enhances the atmosphere.

- The ship Gloucestershire Ship Number 411, vessel type passenger, cargo ship, Built in Belfast.Yard in the South Yard.Slip number 6 launch date July 7th 1910 delivered October 22nd 1910, Owner Bibby Steamship Co, weight 8324 grt. BP length 467 feet, breadth 54 feet , no of screws twin. Speed approx. 14 knots. Official No 131296. Registered Liverpool. Fate scrapped 1936. Sister of the Leicestershire she represented Bibby’s at the Mersey Pageant on 11th July 1913.
- In August 1914 she was requisitioned for trooping duties and in December 1915 was converted into the armed merchant cruiser HMS Gloucestershire and served with the 10th Cruiser Squadron. She was armed with: eight 6-in guns and two 3-pdrs. She was deployed on “E” Patrol between Shetland and Iceland with Royal Mail Line’s Ebro. In February 1916 she came under the control of the Minister of Blockade, Lord Robert cecil. She was decommissioned in 1917 she returned to trooping and on 2nd February 1936 arrived at fate Pembroke Dock where she was broken up by Thomas W Ward.

- It was one of the first business in the world to fit its entire fleet with radio, by the British based Radio Communication Company. Along with other British ship owners, it endured hard economic conditions in the 1970s and 1980s, but survived through diversification into floating accommodation. The group diversified in the 1980s into separate divisions, including Bibby Financial Services which was formed in 1982. The parent company is now called Bibby Line Group, and is a £800 million global business, operating in 14 countries, employing 4,000 people in sectors including retail, financial services, distribution, shipping, marine and infrastructure.
- In 2002 Sir Derek Bibby, 2nd baronet, and great-great-grandson of the founder and past chairman and president of the firm, was aged 80 and terminally ill with leukaemia died.
