The Riley 12/6 was a car made by the British Riley company from late 1932 (for the 1933 model year to 1935. It had a 1458 cc straight-six engine with twin cams and either single, twin or triple SU carburetors. The transmission was either a four speed manual or optional pres elector gearbox. They were capable of a top speed of around 70 mph (113 km/h). The chassis was a lengthened version of the one used on the Riley Nine.
They were available in a range of models: Men tone saloon, Kestrel saloon, Lin cock fixed head coupé, Ascot drophead coupé with dickey seat, Lynx tourer, Falcon saloon, Gamecock tourer, March two-seat tourer, MPH two-seater trial/sports 2-seater, and Trinity 3-position Drop head Coupé.
The 12/6 engine was designed to fit in between the 9 and 14/6 engines for trialing and racing purposes. The Riley MPH is a small production, two-seat sports car made between 1934 and 1935 by the Riley company of Coventry, England. Very few were made, and examples are now highly sought after.
The chassis, with half-elliptic springs and rigid axles front and rear, was based on that of the car prepared for the 1933 TT races. To keep the height down to as low as possible, the side members were positioned under the axle at the rear. Large, fifteen-inch drum brakes were used. Elegant bodywork was mainly of aluminum built over a traditional wood frame and featured a long bonnet, front wings flowing into running boards and a short, rounded tail. The windshield could fold flat to reduce air resistance.
The exact number made is not known, but is believed to be around 15, and it was expensive at £550. Numerous replicas have, however, been made. Fourteen original cars are thought to survive
