  • Thomas Smythe (9. April 1825, Ipswich – 15. Mai 1906, Ipswich) war ein Künstler, der Landschaften, ländliche Szenen und Tiere malte. Er stellte siebzehn Gemälde bei der Society of British Artists aus und war von 1878 bis 1903 aktives Mitglied des Ipswich Fine Art Club.
  • Thomas Smythe, war der jüngere Bruder von Edward Robert Smythe, wurde am 14. November 1825 in Ipswich geboren und am 9. April 1827 in der St. Matthew's Church getauft, Sohn von James Smyth (1780-1863) und seiner Frau Sarah Harriet geb. Skitter (1783- 1845), der am 14. Juni 1811 in Norwich heiratete; James war Buchhalter bei den Bankiers Bacon, Cobbold, Durningham & Cobbold in der Tavern Street, Ipswich, der seinem Nachnamen ein abschließendes „e“ hinzufügte.
  • Thomas Smyth wurde an einer Schule von Charles und Elizabeth Watson in der Berners Street, Ipswich, ausgebildet, wo er 1841 verzeichnet ist. Ein Künstler in der Brook Street, Ipswich 1846-1855 und stellte in der Suffolk Fine Arts Association in der New Lecture Hall am aus Ipswich Mechanics' Institute im August 1850, mehrere Ölgemälde, darunter "Side of the Highroad", "A Donkey Browsing" und "The Gipsy Bait". Er heiratete 1860 in Ipswich Jane Pearse (1840-1919) und hatte drei Söhne und zwei Töchter. Im Jahr 1861 war Thomas ein „Landschafts- und Tiermaler“, der mit seiner 21-jährigen Frau Jane, die in Ipswich geboren wurde, in der Bolton Lane 20, Ipswich, lebte. Seine Tochter Agnes heiratete Frank Brown und 1881 wurde der Familie ein weiteres Kind, der 6-jährige Ernest William, hinzugefügt.

Von seinen Kindern war Ernest Künstler und Buchillustrator in London, bis er nach Amerika auswanderte und Robert nach Kanada auswanderte. Maler von Landschaften, ländlichen Motiven und Tieren und stellte siebzehn Werke in der Society of British Artists aus, darunter "The Roadside Inn", "The Tinkers", und stellte 1856 ein Werk ohne Titel (107) und in der Royal Academy aus, darunter aus der Queen Street, Ipswich aus 20 Bolton Road [Lane], Ipswich im Jahr 1862 "The Keeper's Pony" (335).
